Senior Tax Accountant

📍 Ottawa ⏰ Full-time, Remote 💼 Experienced

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our tax team. This is a remote position based in Ottawa. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in tax preparation, planning, and compliance for individuals and businesses. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base and contribute to strategic tax planning initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies for clients
  • Research tax issues and provide recommendations
  • Communicate with clients regarding tax matters and planning opportunities
  • Mentor junior staff members
  • Stay current with tax law changes and regulations
  • Assist with IRS audits and tax resolution matters

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA license required
  • Minimum 5 years of tax preparation experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software (Lacerte, ProSeries, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Taxation
  • Experience with high-net-worth individuals
  • Experience with multi-state tax returns
  • Enrolled Agent (EA) designation

Bookkeeping Manager

We are looking for a Bookkeeping Manager to lead our bookkeeping team and ensure accurate financial record-keeping for our clients. This is a remote position based in Ottawa. This role involves managing a team of bookkeepers, overseeing client accounts, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise a team of bookkeepers
  • Oversee monthly bookkeeping processes for multiple clients
  • Review and reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements
  • Prepare and review financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and client requirements
  • Train and mentor bookkeeping staff
  • Communicate with clients regarding bookkeeping matters
  • Implement process improvements and best practices
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of bookkeeping experience
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online and Desktop)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Bookkeeper (CB) designation
  • Experience with other accounting software (Xero, Sage, etc.)
  • Experience in a public accounting firm
  • Knowledge of payroll processing

We are seeking a Compliance Specialist to help our clients navigate complex regulatory requirements and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This is a remote position based in Ottawa. This role involves staying current with regulatory changes, conducting compliance reviews, and providing guidance to clients across various industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct compliance reviews and audits for clients
  • Monitor changes in federal, state, and local regulations
  • Assist clients with regulatory filings and requirements
  • Develop compliance checklists and procedures
  • Provide compliance training to clients and staff
  • Research regulatory requirements for specific industries
  • Assist with business license applications and renewals
  • Help clients implement compliance programs
  • Prepare compliance reports and documentation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of compliance or regulatory experience
